Transit Insulated Subfloor System (With Step and Trim)

Always seeking the best in materials, AVC RIG found that they could improve quality and keep costs the same by constructing our panels in house. They've bonded 12mm Baltic birch and 1" polyiso foam  with 3M 70 construction adhesive. This provides a more resilient flooring substrate with a better bonded layer.  They've been installing this floor in-house for testing and have been over the moon excited to share it with you. 

The subfloor is really the foundation of any camper van build and the Transit Insulated Subfloor System has been the base of every AVC RIG camper van build for the past 5 years. A drop-in insulated subfloor perfectly machined to match the ribs in the Ford Transit floor with custom bent and finished trim and step to a clean and professional result.

The system includes 3 floor panels that key into the ribs of the van, 3 trim pieces that finish the edging of the floor, and a custom fabricated step that drops in at the entrance of the slider door. The floor is CNC cut using 1-1/2” In-house-built SIPS panel with 1/2” grooves routed out of the insulated foam that keys in to the floor of your van. The height above the top of the ribs is about 1”.

The R value of the material is 6.6 so we suspect it may be slightly less than that because we route out some of the foam, but with the contours fitting perfectly to the ribs you still have a well insulated floor. Glue the floor down using contact adhesive (we recommend 3M 94.) Add your choice of finish material (we recommend a tubbed vinyl floor for a durable, seamless finish.) Install the included custom steel step and trim, and your floor is done!
