This skid plate will protect your van’s intercooler, oil pan, transmission housing and all water & oil lines. This skid plate is constructed from 3/16″ 5052 aluminum for maximum strength and durability. This skid plate is a two-piece design which interlocks and bolts together. Overall, the addition of our skid plate will give you added peace of mind on the trail.

    Beefy Protection

    The skid plate arrived in good condition and well packaged. This thing is beefy and provides a good sense of serious protection. I was shocked to see how low the radiator is on the Transit, mine was even dented and I didn’t know it. The access panels built into the plate are genius and hopefully provide access to all the necessary locations.

    Installation isn’t bad at all, did it myself. I could have used the provided hardware to install it without any special tools, but I decided to use rivnuts in existing holes in the frame, instead of drilling new holes for the supplied bolts. The rivnuts significantly reduced the complexity of installation.

    Yea it’s expensive, but worth not punching a hole in the radiator deep in the desert where I frequent. I worked recommend this to everyone.

    The Transit OffRoad skid plate is the only one we could find that comes complete with full under-side coverage of intercooler, engine and transmission; and, includes removal plates for access to engine oil drain plug and front differential drain. Our choice was unfinished raw aluminum; and, painted it with clear polyurethane before installation. This is perfect for keeping the interstate 'alligators' and other road hazards from damaging our Transit. Thanks Van Mart for quick delivery and assistance!
