Why Sprinter Capsules Exist
Why Sprinter Capsules Exist
Factory Sprinter wall curvature limits sleeping width and usable interior space.
Without expansion, many van owners must:
• Sleep diagonally
• Build narrower beds
• Sacrifice layout flexibility
Sprinter Capsules extend usable width and create true horizontal sleeping space.

Sprinter Capsules FAQ's
Do capsules require cutting?
Yes. Installation requires cutting the factory body panel to integrate the expansion units into the van’s exterior wall structure. This is a structural modification that allows the capsule to extend beyond the factory curvature and create additional interior width. Professional installation is recommended unless you have experience with metal fabrication and body modification.
Are instructions included?
Yes. Detailed fitment guidance is provided to support proper alignment, sealing, and structural integration. The instructions outline cutting measurements, mounting procedures, and hardware placement to ensure a secure and weather-resistant installation.
Do they affect insulation?
Capsules integrate with standard van insulation strategies. After installation, the expansion area can be insulated and finished like the rest of the interior wall system. Proper sealing and insulation ensure thermal performance and moisture protection remain consistent throughout the build.
Will Sprinter Capsules affect the exterior appearance of my van?
Yes. Capsules extend the side body outward to increase interior width. The exterior profile will change to accommodate the expansion units, but they are designed to integrate cleanly with the van’s body lines and maintain a factory-like finish when properly installed.
Can tall people sleep sideways in a van with Capsules?
Yes. Capsules expand the interior width to 79.5 inches, allowing people 6’3” and taller to sleep east-to-west instead of lengthwise. Many users up to 6’6” can comfortably sleep sideways, depending on mattress thickness and interior trim.
