The Van Compass Rear Door Hinge Caddy is a simple, strong solution to mount various components to the back door of the NCV3 Sprinter van. This is a rigid, bolt on mounting system with no moving parts to wear out or loosen up over time. The Hinge Caddy features a slotted grid system to allow mounting of a spare tire, fuel cans, high lift mount, shovel, storage box or whatever else you can’t live without on your next adventure.
This system bolts on using existing holes on the door hinges and door where the magnetic door stop previously resided. A simple hinge modification allows us to eliminate the need for pivot points in the door hinges which makes this system both extremely strong and extremely simple. Constructed from 1/8” thick high strength steel, the Hinge Caddy is laser cut, formed and welded in house at Van Compass for a precise fit. Coated with a textured black powdercoat finish inside and out, this unit will stand up to the elements for years to come.
Weight should always be a concern when modifying a vehicle so we eliminated as much weight as possible while still maintaining the necessary strength to carry up to 100 lbs of additional gear on the door. Do note that Mercedes specs no more than 100lbs should be bolted to the rear doors. Any door issues will not be covered under warranty if more than 100 lbs is bolted to the door even if the bulk of the weight is supported by the hinges. We include a large internal door reinforcement plate that distributes the load into the internal door structure as well. See the instructions listed below for more details about the part.
Pair the Hinge Caddy with the 4056-03 Spare tire bracket if you’re looking for that Euro look with the tire mounted up high on the back door. As with all Van Compass parts, this part ships with all hardware needed for installation.
