Ventilation & proper airflow is rather important in a camper van for many different reasons. First off, adequate ventilation helps to regulate temperature, ensuring a comfortable interior environment regardless of external weather conditions. During warm summer days, proper airflow can prevent the van from becoming uncomfortably hot and stuffy, while in colder weather, it helps to reduce condensation and moisture buildup, mitigating the risk of mold and mildew growth.
Moreover, ventilation plays a crucial role in maintaining air quality within the confined space of a camper van. It helps to remove cooking odors, smoke, and other airborne pollutants, promoting a healthier and more pleasant living environment.
The Maxxfan 7500 Deluxe & for good reason. The MaxxFan Deluxe is the only complete Van ventilation system that incorporates a vent, fan and rain shield in a single unit. Twin lifting arms, no more lid fluttering in high winds or when driving. Flush mounted, easy to clean keypad controls fan speed, thermostat, air intake and/or exhaust functions. Fits all standard 14" x 14" roof openings, all mounting screws, and hardware included.

3M Thinsulate is a synthetic insulation material known for its high thermal efficiency. It's designed to keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer, making it an ideal choice for camper van conversions. The magic lies in its unique fibers, which are finer than those used in most traditional insulating materials. This allows Thinsulate to trap more air in less space, providing superior warmth without the bulk.
1. Lightweight and Flexible
One of the biggest challenges in a van build is managing weight and space. Thinsulate's lightweight and flexible nature means it can fit into tight spaces without adding significant weight to your vehicle, preserving fuel efficiency and making installation a breeze.
2. Moisture Resistance
Unlike traditional insulation, Thinsulate is moisture-resistant, which is crucial in the variable conditions encountered on the road. It helps prevent mold and mildew growth inside your van walls, ensuring a healthier living environment.
3. Superior Thermal Performance
Thinsulate insulation offers excellent thermal performance, keeping the interior of your camper van comfortable regardless of outside temperatures. Its efficiency in blocking heat transfer means your van stays warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, enhancing your overall travel experience.
4. Sound Dampening Qualities
Beyond thermal insulation, Thinsulate also reduces noise, providing a quieter, more peaceful interior. Whether it's windy highways or bustling campgrounds, Thinsulate helps mute the outside world, allowing you to relax fully in your mobile haven.

Have you ever heard of sound deadening? Sound deadening is made of a butyl rubber material which lowers the frequency of vibrations and thus make them quieter. Vibrating metal from the movement of the van is largest source of noise while driving. This is applied to the walls of your van before you insert the insulation. Seen below is a van w/ sound deadening.
Sound deadening alone gives you a quieter ride. When combined w/ insulation you get a quieter ride + improved climate control. Both of these items are easy to install and the industry standard for . We use both these item in almost all of our van builds.

]]>The common road block to many people investing into the 'van life' idea is the lack of space a van actually offers. You can do your best to tidy up your van, keep things organized, have multiple storage attachments on the rear and roof of your van however when it comes to actually creating more square footage there is really only a few options. One is to use cubic space but that can run out quickly. Two is to upgrade from a 144 Sprinter Van to a 170 Sprinter Van (we all know, you will incur an additional cost for a 170) or there is a second option. Your third option is adding capsules to your rear cabin of your sprinter van. Below is what a capsule looks:
A capsule is an aftermarket bunk extension that adds width to both the passenger and driver side rear cabin. By adding more width to the rear of your cabin you open up space to be able to lay down horizontally. In a Sprinter or Transit van without a bunk extension you will most likely find yourself curled up in a ball while resting/sleeping. The capsules, as seen below, give you an extra 11+ inches. The addition of extra space gives you the ability to lay down flat and enjoy a good nights rest. Another great benefit is the extra space gives you room to use as a shelf. You can put plants, picture frames, speakers or whatever type of decor you prefer into the rear of your Van.
Exterior view w/ capsules
Interior view w/ capsules
There are different pop outs on the market but we found one to stand out more than the others. Here are five reasons why we recommend this bunker extension from VANSPEED:
1. EASY INSTALL
Below is an install video:
2. AESTHETICS
Vanspeed designed this capsule to match the aesthetic shape of your van. From the clean edges and precise fitment, this upgrade looks like it was meant to be on your Sprinter.
3. DEPTH
Not all pop outs have the same depth. These capsules from VANSPEED give you 11 more inches of rear depth which is more than the average of other pop outs on the market.
4. BUILT IN RAIN CHANNEL
These capsules have a channel that directs water off your van. Without a rain channel there is a greater possibility of water pooling or leaking into your van.
5. PREMIUM MATERIALS
This product is made from a lightweight fiberglass & made in the USA. It's comes primed and paint ready!
SIMPLE ELEGANCE
"They fit great and even better, look great while allowing my wife and I to sleep perpendicular to the vehicle chassis in a homemade queen size bed. Thanks Van Mart!"
- Mike L.
A PERFECT FIT
"Having installed all the sideways sleeping options over the years on client vans I chose Vanspeed Capsules for my personal rig. The fit and finish is excellent, the look on the van perfect. My only dream is that the primer was a finish coat as I love the grey and would just leave them raw."
- Jacob G.
SO MUCH MORE ROOM
"The install is super straight forward and I like how bolts are used so you don't have to leave the van sitting overnight waiting for the urethane to cure. The fit is perfect and the design is beautiful. I'll definitely buy these capsules for my future builds."
- S.W.

If you haven't heard, Mercedes-Benz recently released their new 2023 Sprinter. There are always pros & cons when a car manufacturer comes out with a new model. In this blog post we are going to be talking specifically about their New 2023 Mercedes-Benz 2500 4-Cyl Diesel AWD.
* There is also a 2WD Model version but today we are focusing on the AWD Model.
So is it worth purchasing the New 2023 Mercedes-Benz 2500 4-Cyl Diesel AWD?
We get that question a lot here at The Van Mart since we have been in the camper van business for a good amount of time. There is no right or wrong answer and it comes down to what you want.
Let's first take a look at the general specs of a 2023 Mercedes-Benz 2500 4-Cyl Diesel AWD:
Engine: 4 Cyl Turbo 2.0 Liter
For comparison let's take a look at the general specs of a 2022 Mercedes-Benz 2500 V6 Diesel 4x4:
Engine: 3.0L
The main changes Mercedes-Benz implemented in their new 2023 Sprinter line-up was the engine and drive system. For the engine they transitioned from a 3.0L V6 to a 4 Cyl Turbo 2.0 Liter engine. As for the drive system instead of offering a 4x4 option they chose to implement an AWD system.
If you are a numbers person, some stats that should jump out at you are that you will get more horsepower & torque in the 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van. You also get 2 additional shifting points w/ an option for manual mode in the new 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. In a nutshell this will allow you to have smoother acceleration, higher torque and lower noise and vibration levels. You also have decreased emissions and an overall improvement in your MPG. It isn't anything earth shattering but there is a small increase.
So you may be asking yourself why would I get anything other than the 2023 Mercedes-Benz 2500 4-Cyl Diesel AWD after reading the stats. You have to ask yourself what type of terrain you will be traveling on and how often do you think you will need to get out of/push through tough terrain.
If you are an off-road enthusiasts and love going off the grid you may want to consider the 2022 or older 4x4 Sprinters. The reason why an older 4x4 Sprinter may be preferred by people who go off the grid is because they are better at getting through tough terrain. They do this more effectively because when you activate the 4x4 system the wheels rotate at different speeds, which increases your capabilities of getting out of tough terrain due to higher traction and torque.
The New 2023 Mercedes-Benz AWD Sprinters automatically sends up to 50 percent of torque to the front wheels when necessary, meaning the wheels rotate at the same speed giving you less traction & torque than the older 4x4 Sprinters.
Another reason why you may want to look into the older 4x4 Sprinters is due to their higher resale value and this is because of limited production quantity and high demand.
Let's first take a look at the general price of a 2023 Mercedes-Benz 2500 4-Cyl Diesel AWD. The MSRP is about $62,000 and varies based on upgrade packages. If that price is out of your budget and you don't necessarily care about the improvements, looking into a used 2022 and older Mercedes-Benz Sprinter may be in your best interest. You are still going to get a powerful, easy driving & well equipped vehicle out from the older models minus a few of the new bells and whistles.
One thing to note, when buying used, you do take on the vehicle with a reduced warranty meaning, you buy a 2021, you may have 1 year and 12,000 miles left of that warranty as opposed to a new vehicle, you get the full 3 year 36,000 mile warranty.
AVERAGE COST OF A MB SPRINTER
Let's look at a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz 2500 V6 Diesel 4x4 that has roughly 20,000 miles. That has an average MSRP of $50,000. The prices will increase or decrease based on the year of the vehicle, mileage and upgrade packages.
If you have a little bit more of a budget and are looking for the best overall ride we would choose the new 2023 Mercedes-Benz 2500 4-Cyl Diesel AWD. However if are looking to save a little bit of money and tend to travel off the grid and through rough terrain we may lean towards the older Mercedes-Benz 2500 V6 Diesel 4x4.
If you decided on a cargo van and are looking to convert it into a camper van then finding an expert up-fitter (van builder) is your next step if you don't plan to do a DIY van build.
Do you recommend an expert up-fitter?
We highly recommend looking into Vanspeed, "The One-Stop Shop for Mercedes Sprinter Van Builds" as stated in this article by Motor Trend.
Vanspeed was founded on a passion for travel and action sports, which is what drives their commitment to create spec-built vans that seamlessly transition into nature. They understand the importance of having a vehicle that not only performs well but also reflects your unique style and personality. Sprinters, Transits & Promasters are popular choices for those who need a vehicle that can handle heavy loads, long trips, and off-road adventures. However, the cost of owning and maintaining a camper van can be significant. The average cost of a custom camper van can range from $50,000 to $220,000+ depending on the level of customization and the type of conversion. This can include everything from simple amenities like a bed and storage to more complex features like a full kitchen and shower. Fortunately, there are several ways for Camper Van owners to offset the cost of their vehicles. This is done by utilizing the down time in which you are not using your Camper Van for recreational use.
Below is a list of 5 ways you can maximize your Camper Van investment:

1. Storage capacity
The headliner shelf gives you an additional storage space of roughly 7000 cubic inches. In simpler terms if we are looking at clothing as an example, it is safe to say you can pack an entire weeks long worth of clothing w/ the addition of the headliner shelf.
2. Modular dividers
By adding modular dividers to the headliner shelf you can now organize your belongings. These dividers give you the option to create individualized sections for each passenger creating some sense of privacy for personal items. Another added benefit of these dividers it prevents items from tumbling around while driving. The last thing you want is to hear rattling above your head when you are driving.
3. Front mounting holes for shades or curtains
The ability to hang shades or curtains allows you to block out morning sunlight that would come through the front windows. This is important and if you have ever tried to sleep in a van when the morning light comes up, you would know that is an important factor for those of you that want to sleep in.
4. Light weight aluminum construction
This product is constructed from a light weight aluminum that is finished w/ a black powder coat thats gives your interior a clean finished look. We chose to use aluminum for this product for its lightweight density allowing for an easier to install experience.
5. Ease of installation
This sprinter headliner shelf utilizes OEM factory mounting locations making installation a breeze. The product takes about 10 minutes to install. All hardware is included w/ a full instruction manual. (see instructions here)
You can also see the full install video below for reference:
"Wonderful idea thats sturdy n able to hold a load. I installed it quick n easy. Then added my old VW net for another layer of lite storage. Thanks Vanmart!!!"

If you’re anything like us, you’re itching to load up and explore in your camper van. Our friends over at VANSPEED helped put together a list of the top-voted national park van travel destinations for 2023! - Enjoy
Yellowstone National Park is a nearly 3,500-sq.-mile wilderness recreation area atop a volcanic hot spot. Mostly in Wyoming, the park spreads into parts of Montana and Idaho too. Yellowstone features dramatic canyons, alpine rivers, lush forests, hot springs, and gushing geysers, including its most famous, Old Faithful. It's also home to hundreds of animal species, including bears, wolves, bison, elk, and antelope.
Yosemite National Park is in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. It’s famed for its giant, ancient sequoia trees and for Tunnel View, the iconic vista of towering Bridalveil Fall and the granite cliffs of El Capitan and Half Dome. In Yosemite Village are shops, restaurants, lodging, the Yosemite Museum, and the Ansel Adams Gallery, with prints of the photographer’s renowned black-and-white landscapes of the area.
Arches National Park lies north of Moab in the state of Utah. Bordered by the Colorado River in the southeast, it’s known as the site of more than 2,000 natural sandstone arches, such as the massive, red-hued Delicate Arch in the east. A long, thin Landscape Arch stands in Devil’s Garden to the north. Other geological formations include Balanced Rock, towering over the desert landscape in the middle of the park.
Denali National Park and Preserve encompasses 6 million acres of Alaska’s interior wilderness. Its centerpiece is 20,310 ft.-high Denali (fka Mount McKinley), North America’s tallest peak. With terrain of tundra, spruce forest, and glaciers, the park is home to wildlife, including grizzly bears, wolves, moose, caribou, and Dall sheep. Popular activities in summer include biking, backpacking, hiking, and mountaineering.
Rocky Mountain National Park in northern Colorado spans the Continental Divide and encompasses protected mountains, forests, and alpine tundra. It's known for the Trail Ridge Road and the Old Fall River Road, drives that pass aspen trees and rivers. The Keyhole Route, a climb crossing vertical rock faces, leads up Longs Peak, the park’s tallest mountain. A trail surrounding Bear Lake offers views of the peaks.

In todays blog post we are going to focus on carpentry & cabinetry. This post coincides w/ our collection launch w/ our friends at Serg Supply who focus on artisan ready built cabinets, wall panels. kitchen galleys & more!
The first thing you are going to want to do before we get int0 the topic of carpentry is sound deaden, insulate & pre-wire your van. If you don't tackle these tasks first you may be setting yourself up for a serious headache later on.
To learn more about sound deadening + insulation see blog post below:

To learn more about electrical see the following product:
https://thevanmart.com/products/bench-built-electrical-systems?_pos=2&_psq=craf&_ss=e&_v=1.0
Let's continue on.....
Assuming you already added sound deadening, insulation & pre-wired your van we can now move onto the next step that makes the most sense in a traditional van build.
Unless you are wanting to stare at sheet metal, insulation & wires you are going to want to cover the walls of your sprinter van. There are many ways to do this and if you aren't familiar w/ wood work this may seem like a daunting task. Luckily our friends at Serg Supply desinged a pre-cut wall panel kit that is an easy DIY install.
This wall panel kit from Serge Supply is pre-cut for either a Sprinter 144 or 170 & is made from maple wood & is pre-finished. You have the option to add window cutouts designed for the Vanspeed Capsules or have solid walls.

Space in a sprinter van is minimal that is why utilizing your cubic space is vital. These wheel well boxes are not only designed to cover your wheel well but even more importantly, they create a storage place for a potential water tank, electrical system, clothes, blankets or other miscellaneous items you want to store.
To make this product even sweeter there is an option to add a removable bed frame. This bed frame sits on top of the wheel well boxes and is a great option for anyone looking for a bed platform with plenty of storage space underneath.

The obvious reasons of why equip your sprinter van with a water supply:
1. Cooking & Cleaning
If you are looking to cook while on the road, clean your dishes or have somewhere to wash hands.
2. Shower, Toilet & Hygiene
Makes feel like life on the road a little bit more like home.
3. Rinsing off
Whether thats rinsing off feet, hands, bikes, surfboards & any other gear you may have with you.
The first order of business to get water flowing through your campervan is securing a water tank. Water tanks are a vital part of any van build & should be figured out in the early stages of your van conversion. Water tanks vary in size and location. Depending on how you plan to use water & how many people you travel with will determine which tank option is best for you.
A common van build for someone traveling w/ a partner that we see a lot has two water tanks being used. This is mainly because the van build has a full interior shower & kitchen. One water tank is used for fresh water & the other tank is used for grey water. This doesn't mean every van build has to utilize two tanks. It comes down to how you are going to use water & the duration of your travels.
When choosing a water tank there are two options of where it can go. It's either going to be situated somewhere in the interior of your campervan or mounted outside underneath your camper. If you are dealing with colder climates the best option for you will be an interior water tank. Interior water tanks have less exposure to the outside freezing temperatures which can prevent the freezing of water from occurring.
If cold climates is not a worry then it really comes down to your layout and how you plan to build your campervan. Here at The Van Mart we mostly work on Sprinter Vans & tend to go with the outside mounted water tanks. Being located in Southern California our climate doesn't permit us to be as concerned w/ water freezing. Plus with the 40 gallon option we get maximum water storage capabilities without taking up any space in the interior of our campervans.
Below you will see what an interior water tank looks like when utilized in the interior of a campervan. These tanks were designed to utilize the other wise wasted space of your wheel wells.
Link to all interior water tanks:
EXTERIOR WATER TANKS (SPRINTER ONLY)
If you are looking to add a water supply system to your sprinter van we are glad you are here! The first item of business that you are going to want to take care how to store the water. This is done by adding a water tank underneath your vehicle The optimal water tank sizes for a sprinter van is 25 gallons or 40 gallons. These two sizes are designed to fit in the underbelly of your sprinter van.
THE 25 GALLON OPTION
The 25 gallon tank fits between the front wheel and back wheel on the driver side. We put together a kit that includes the mounting you will need plus the 25 gallon tank itself!
Link to 25 gallon water tank w/ mounting kit:
THE 40 GALLON OPTION
The 40 gallon tank fits where your spare tire was perviously. We put together a kit that includes the mounting parts you will need plus the 40 gallon tank.
Link to 40 gallon water tank w/ mounting kit:
Link to 40 gallon water tank w/ mounting kit:
If you are wanting to go this route with a 40 gallon tank and still wanting a place to store your spare tire you will need to add a rear tire carrier to your sprinter van. A rear tire carrier gives you the ability to store a spare as the water tank will take the spot of your rear tire underneath your sprinter van.
Here is what a rear tire carrier looks like:
Link to shop rear tire carrier:
Undecided on which tank size would be best for you?
Let's take the 25 gallon tank size as an example. If you plan on taking a five minutes shower you are looking at using about 10 gallons of water. That gives you the ability to take about 2.5 showers before having to fill up your tank. If you had the 40 gallon tank you would be able to roughly get 4 showers before having to fill up your water tank.
There are many other factors in play that determine what would be the best tank size for you. Things like family size, whether or not you have a sink/ kitchen area or how long do you plan to be away from a known water source where you can fill up your tank!
Here is a inside look at how our good friend Evan actually used both tanks simultaneously with his sprinter van!
So you have your water tank installed and have a place to store water.... what about the plumbing, fixtures, valves, etc? This is where there isn't one right answer. Because all van layouts are built different how to go about plumbing and connecting your water tank to sinks, showers, toilets & more is going to differ.
We recommend first knowing where and what fixtures your are going to add in your sprinter van. This will give you a better idea of length of hoses you will need, type of water pump, how many split valves, etc.

Having trouble stepping in & out of the rear of your sprinter van w/ your factory step? Or maybe you don't have a rear step at all. If either of these scenarios resonate I would keep reading.....
As many of you are probably aware your sprinter van will come w/ a factory step or no step at all. If you happen to have this factory step, the step itself is a good idea in theory... but really isn't very practical as the width of the step doesn't leave much room for error as it's only a little bigger than an average human shoe size. Luckily there is an alternative.... Let us introduce introduce you to The Vanspeed Rear Step.
This rear step made by Vanspeed extends the width of your sprinter van giving you optimal real estate/support to get in & out of the rear of your van.
View more specs below:
Besides it being a great way to support entry & exit into the rear of your sprinter van, the pure aesthetic of this rear step turns heads. Not to mention it looks just as good when its caked in mud & dirt!
All necessary hardware included when you purchase this rear step. This is a quick DIY install. See install video below:
"I bought these rear steps based on style, function and price. I like the look. My kids use the step to climb in. I installed them on my own. I do take extra care now, when backing up…because these steps stick out over a wider area when compared to the small oem step."

Let us introduce you to the On-Board Air Compressor Kit!

Providing optimum power, the ARB twin motor design delivers class-leading air flow for fast inflation purposes. Constructed of lightweight, high-strength engineering grade materials, it incorporates quality components for quiet operation and extended durability. The twin motors incorporate internal thermal protection against extreme temperature damage while a heavy duty in-line maxi fuse for each motor provides professional circuit protection.
Inflating & deflating tires has to be our top reason why we would recommend this product. A good thing to keep in mind when traversing into new roads and new elements is tire pressure. Knowing your tire pressure and adapting accordingly to your elements increases the performance of your vehicle. For example if you deflate your tires to the right PSI when off roading or beach-going the reduction of tire inflation increases the surface area that comes in contact the dirt, sand, beach, mud or other soft terrains. This increased contact with the surface area decreases the chance of your tires getting stuck. Nobody likes to get stuck, especially when you are in the middle of nowhere.
- Dusting off the interior/exterior of your van
- Inflate rafts, paddles boards etc.
- Quick & easy way to pump up bike tires
- Fill up your air mattress
- Quick dry items
1. Twin Motor Air Compressor
2. Mounting brackets & Hardware to mount motor in engine bay
3. Attachment bracket for quick air disconnect under hood & rear pinch weld
4. Complete air accessory kit which includes: hose, tire inflator, needle attachment + various other inflating attachments

This pedal control device increases throttle response by removing delays in the accelerator, enhancing the driving experience. This product connects to your phone via bluetooth where you are then able to pick your setting/throttle response.
Step 1: Turn off the ignition, open your drivers side door & wait 10 minutes. You are going to want your van to be asleep during the install process hence why you need to open a door a wait 15 minutes until your car fall asleep.
Don't skip this step!
Step 2: Loosen and disconnect the plug connection from the original plug adapter.
Step 3: After you disconnect the old plugs attach both OEM connectors to the accelerator pedal sensor.
Step 4: Connect pedal sensor back into original port.
Step 5: Relocate the Pedal Box to a suitable location and makes sure all cords are out of way and not interfering w/ your pedal. A good option would be place in the cavity bay to the right of your pedal and zip tie to the other cords.
This device connects to your phone via blue tooth after you download the Pedal Control app allowing you to pick your throttle setting or customize your own throttle response. Our favorite setting is the ant-theft setting which disables your pedal all together at a touch of a button!

First off, if you are in the Orange County greater area and have never been let us tell you, it's a nice little hidden gym. If you are looking to escape the busyness of city life, come and enjoy the greenery and beautiful trails that Caspers has to offer. Caution however...watch out for mountain lions as that is what the park rangers told us. The reason we ventured out to Caspers is to field test a few different products that we added to The Van Mart. Let us introduce you to the product we are going over today.
CLICK HERE TO SHOP THE SKOTTLE GRILL
The Tembo Tusk Skottle is a portable grill that comes conveniently packed in a carrying case along with four adjustable legs. The skottle is perfect for anyone that doesn't have a built-in kitchen in their van and is looking to take their culinary skills off grid.
1. The Portability
This grill and all necessary parts seamlessly fit into a circular carrying case taking up very little room in your van. It is about the size of a lounge pillow for reference and can easily be carried from point A to B with ease. You can even sling it on your back using the straps which make it like a back pack. Convenient!
2. The Ease of Set-Up
Once you find a spot to setup, it takes about 2 minutes to assemble all the skottle before you ignite and start cooking! All you have to do is take out the skottle, screw in the legs, attach the propane (sold separately) and your good to go! We loved how easy it was to adjust the legs to cook at our desired height. Bonus points on this feature.
3. Spacious Cooking Area
Don't let the word portable fool you into thinking you wont be able to cook a sizable meal. Pictured below is us whipping up some eggs & as you can see there is more than enough room to cook more. Plus this product puts out some heat. We were surprised at how effectively the skottle cooked in a timely manner.
4. Easy to Clean
Cleaning up without a kitchen can be tough. Luckily you don't need a full kitchen to clean this grill. To clean your skottle pour enough water on grill to cover the surface, turn on the burner until water is hot and let sit for 10 minutes. Then you can use a rounded spatula to scrape off any remnants of food that may have stuck, drain & reheat the pan. After it is hot again all you do is pour a little water and flash steam the pan. After that, you can use a paper towel and apply a light coat of cooking oil to the pan so you are ready for your next meal.

]]>DIY Van converters....this blog is for you!
So you just bought your van and now are looking at a large empty vehicle. What do you do now?
The first thing you are going to want to do after stripping down your vehicle to its metal frame is add sound deadening + insulation. Sound deadening is going to give you a quieter ride & insulation is going to assist in climate regulation. We recommend to add these two items at the very beginning of your van build because if you don't add it before you install paneling, upholstery and cabinetry the only way to install sound deadening + insulation is to remove all your cabinetry, fixtures and wall paneling, which is a headache, cost money & takes a lot of time.
We created three starter kits based around sound deadening + insulation. The video below give you a better understanding of the importance of these kits!
Below is a more detailed look into each KIT!
This is a great starter kit for anyone who is looking for a quieter ride and better climate control. Both of these items are very easy to install and when paired together, they make a huge difference in your van. These two products also work inside any van, not just sprinters.
Link to shop this kit:
A detailed look at DIY Starter Kit #1:
SOUND DEADENING:
Sound deadening is made of a butyl rubber material which lowers the frequency of vibrations and thus make them quieter. Vibrating metal from the movement of the van is the largest source of noise while driving. This is applied to the walls of your van before you insert the insulation. This kit comes w/ enough sound deadening to cover the entire interior of your vehicle.
VAN INSULATION:
3M Thinsulation is a lightweight insulation that traps in heat while allowing moisture to escape. It is the same material that many Northface and Patagonia jackets are made from. This product is the gold standard for insulation & will make your van life experience that much better! This kit comes w/ enough insulation to cover the entire interior of your vehicle.
This kit comes w/ the essentials, sound deadening & insulation but we added a Maxx Air Vent Fan Kit as-well. If you are familiar with cutting sheet metal & looking for optimal air flow in your van than this kit may be a great option for you.
Total savings when you choose this kit?

A detailed look at DIY Starter Kit #3:

In many of our blogs we mostly discuss the topic of maximizing the space in your van. This is likely due to the fact that space is a big issue when it comes to living on the road! With that said we are going to dive deep in our DIY install table. Lets us introduce you to the LAGUN table:
This is the go-to/gold standard table for the van life & for good reason! Below are a few of the many reasons why this the only table system we offer on our website:
This table top rotates on a swivel allowing you 360° of rotation. With a lock in place feature you can easily set the table in any fixed location. The benefits of your table being able to rotate vs a static table allows you to seamlessly adapt and adjust your working/eating space in your van.
The wood table top is a custom fixture made by VANSPEED who specializes in up-fitting and converting vans. They pride themselves in craftsmanship while designed, cutting & sanding everything in house in Huntington Beach,CA.
This table has a max wight limit of 50 lbs. allowing you to easily store food, laptops, books or whatever other items you may have that can be used on a table. The combination of the Bamboo table top paired with this stainless steel mounting system creates a durable fixture for your van.
Instructions are included to get this table up and running in no time! Just choose where you want to mount the lagun system and start enjoying the benefits of this amazing new upgrade! This table mounting system can be installed in type of van.
There are two handles where you can adjust the resistance of your tables swivel. If you are looking for a locked in location all you have to do is turn the two handles to tighten.
Why is this important? Thats' a great questions the reason being is that by being able to mount this from the side you are leaving walkway open. Most fixed tables mount on the floor which then blocks your floor and impedes your walking space.
From the clean matte looking stainless steel to the natural bamboo wood patterns this table give you a modern & timeless look.

A capsule is an aftermarket bunk extension that adds width to both the passenger and driver side rear cabin. By adding more width to the rear of your cabin you open up space to be able to lay down horizontally. In a Sprinter van without a bunk extension you will most likely find yourself curled up in a ball while resting/sleeping.

There are different pop outs on the market but we found one to stand out more than the others. Here are five reasons why we recommend this bunker extension from VANSPEED:
1. Easy Install
Below is an install video:
2. Aesthetic Contour
Vanspeed designed this capsule to match the aesthetic shape of your van. From the clean edges and precise fitment, this upgrade looks like it was meant to be on your Sprinter.
3. More Depth
5. Made with premium materials
This product is made from a lightweight fiberglass & made in the USA. It's comes primed and paint ready!
